With Summer quickly approaching and the warm weather hopefully here to stay. Let’s make sure that we can stay safe.

A few tips that people may not know about.

    To avoid the nasty bugs:

No scented soaps, lotions or perfumes for the children or yourself!

Avoid dressing children in bright clothing and flowery print.

Sunscreen and bug spray should never be applied at the same time, as sunscreen is usually applied every 80 minutes and bug spray only needs to be applied once during the day. Try to find a sunscreen that also contains bug spray.

Try to find a bug spray that contains DEET, when needed to prevent insect related diseases such as West Nile and Lyme Disease.

    Avoid the sun:

When swimming try to wear a hat and a shirt if permitted.

Wear sunscreen of 70 SPF or above.

Avoid direct sun exposure as much as possible during peak UV radiation hours between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Buy cosmetic products that offer UV protection.

Have a wonderful and safe summer! Help friends and family stay safe by passing this along!
